Odin - 3 osc wavetable synth
Odin is a 12 voice polyphonic, wavetable-based, subtractive, semi-modular synthesizer.

The oscillators include a wide variety of waveforms and are designed to prevent aliasing. The filters are virtual analog Moog-ladder emulations with Oberheim variations.
  • 3 osillators (5 different algorithms, 35 waveforms).
  • 2 filters (8 different algorithms: LP, BP, HP and comb variations).
  • 2 LFOs (one global, one per voice).
  • Chorus.
  • Delay.
  • 5 slot mod-matrix.
  • XY-pad.
  • Flexible signal routing.

Very nice synth well suitable for thick analog basslines and leads, I think it's among the best free ones out there, it's almost impossible to make this one sound bad even with its extremely wide sound palette. The filters are always smooth and crunchy and never harsh at any setting.

What OS and DAW are you on? Contact me via FrederikSiepe@web.de, I'm sure we can sort this out! :-)

Good wavetable synth allowing a large palette of sounds. Internal routing and tweakability giving hours of fun (rare with free synths). Little drawback : only 5 mod slots of which 2 needed for VCF keyboard tracking (absent from filter panels).

Quite a versatile synth and it sounds great! It should be released for Mac OS too.

I was searchin after a synth that meets the supremacy and behaviour of Synth1. Odin has a little advantage for deepest/lowest basses. It's really impressive when the last key on your keyboard don't give you back nonsense but rather what you was calling for: The sound you created played on the lowest key, precise and clean as the highest key. Here is the next plus: Odin acts like what I lick Synth1 for: You can't overexpect Odin while tweaking. Most synths tend to break the rules when you tweak a sound to the limit. The only lil problem I have is performance problems when I hold 6 keys and change the chord, my pc starts to stumble. Maybe it's a bit CPU hungry, but it's possible to arrange around it. ;)

Hi Cajhmere, when playing 6 notes with some release and 3 multi-oscs, you get to the point where you have 144 oscillators running in parallel. That might be a bit too much for some systems, given the aliasing-free implementation of the oscillators. I recommend bouncing to audio in that situation. Using any other type of oscillator should be fine however. Best, Frederik

Strange. I'm having trouble loading up the 64bit version in MuLab. 32bit via JBridge is working.

This as a seriously neat and versatile synth. Results are almost instantaneous and a decent patch can be transferred from mind to synth in a few minutes. One of the best synths around that covers a large spectrum of sound creation but with ease. Absolute must have in ANY VST synth library.

Seriously, one of the best free vst's I've ever tried; enjoying it now as I write this. As said above, a little beast.

I'm not a sound designer so it's hard to rate this synth. Even a handful of presets(even just for starting points) would help.

I agree with you, maybe every sound you could imagine can be created with this little monster, but unfortunately there is a big Bug in the ADSR-Section, the synth doesn't stop the note and keep playin a noisy humm. I hope this Synth get updated soon, because it's a Beast !

Hi, I and some others have tested the synth thoroughly, and I haven't heard about this problem before. I'd love to fix the problem, however I need to know more about it. So please if anybody experiences this problem get in touch with me via email (frederiksiepe@web.de) and provide information regarding OS and DAW. Thanks, Fred

Hahaha Frederik you're a nice guy seriously, uhhm I'm from Alemania, yeah it's when you set The FM Mode and set the Ring-Mod up. Then when I created Kickdrums and distort them, then the Synth keep playin a little hum, maybe it's a problem with the DC-Offset. I will test your synth next week a bit more, but it's a quite amazing sounding synth, with nearly endless tone veriations. I will informate u once again next time. =)
